Veridian Sight – VOL.2 ; Fractured Sight

Chapter 8: The Shadow’s Awakening

Elias was at home, deep in meditation, trying to push the boundaries of his “Veridian Sight,” when the chaos erupted. The power flicker, the distant sirens, the growing sense of unease in the town – they all registered in his heightened awareness. He snapped out of his trance, his mind racing. He knew, instinctively, that this wasn’t random. This was Silas.

He quickly pieced together the events, his enhanced hearing picking up the frantic calls on the police scanner. The power station, the vandalism, the bank robbery… and then, the diner. Martha. Sarah. His friends, and his neighbors, were held hostage.

A cold fury ignited within him, a stark contrast to the calm he had been striving for in his training. Silas had crossed a line. He had attacked Elias’s town and threatened his people. And now, Elias was going to make him pay.

He donned his suit, the black and white fabric feeling like a second skin. He checked his supplies, a few non-lethal gadgets he had been developing – smoke pellets, flashbangs, a grapnel launcher. He knew he couldn’t rely solely on his speed and strength this time. Silas was cunning, ruthless, and he had a plan.

Elias closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, forcing himself to focus. He pushed back the anger, the fear, the desire for vengeance. He needed to be clear-headed, strategic. He needed to be the hero Clover Creek needed.

He focused on the diner, picturing Martha and Sarah, the other hostages. He could sense their fear, their desperation. That feeling fueled his determination. He would not fail them.

He moved, a black and white blur disappearing into the night, heading towards the heart of the chaos, towards the confrontation with Silas.
