Veridian Sight – VOL. 4: Beyond Human Design
Chapter 7: Fractured Memories, Alien Intent, Lingering Footprints
Elias knelt beside Evelyn, his voice gentle. “Evelyn, we were like you. Experiments. They took things from us. We want to help you get out of here.” He extended a hand slowly, palm open.
Evelyn’s gaze flickered between Elias, Kai, and Brody, suspicion warring with a desperate flicker of hope. Kai mirrored Elias’s gesture, their own hand trembling slightly. “We understand the fear,” Kai said softly. “But we’re not them.”
Slowly, hesitantly, Evelyn reached out a frail hand and took Elias’s. The touch was weak, but it was a start. As they helped her to her feet, she spoke in fragmented sentences, her memories clouded and disjointed. She remembered flashes of pain, of being tested, of other children… other subjects. She didn’t know how long she had been there, or why she had been left behind.
Meanwhile, back at the abandoned Chimera facility, Aris and Sarah worked tirelessly on the Kryll probe. The newly discovered coordinates for “The Nursery” added a layer of urgency to their efforts. Aris focused on isolating any data related to specific locations, while Sarah cross-referenced the alien symbols with the Project Chimera files, looking for any matching designations or references.
“This symbol keeps appearing near the Dulce coordinates,” Aris noted, pointing to a complex geometric shape. “And this one… It’s associated with the Roswell data.”
Sarah scanned her files. “Wait… this symbol… It’s in the early logs for Subject T. They called it a ‘resonance marker.'”
The Kryll probe wasn’t just a passive observer; it seemed to be actively tracking individuals or locations with specific genetic or energetic signatures – signatures tied to Project Chimera’s experiments and, potentially, the Roswell incident. “The Nursery,” then, could be a place where individuals with these markers were concentrated, a site of significant interest to the Kryll.
Back at the dilapidated installation, Brody was examining the surrounding area. He noticed something that didn’t fit the decades-old decay: a set of relatively fresh tire tracks leading away from a hidden service entrance. “Someone else has been here,” he said, his voice low and cautious. “Recently.”
The tracks were from a heavy-duty vehicle, not the kind a casual hiker would use. Who else knew about this forgotten facility? Were they connected to Project Chimera? Or were they another party interested in the secrets it held, perhaps even the Kryll themselves?
The rescue of Evelyn had opened a new path, but it had also revealed that they were not alone in their search for answers. The shadows of the past were stirring, and new players might already be on the board.
