Veridian Sight – VOL. 4: Beyond Human Design
Chapter 5: Echoes of the Past, Footsteps in the Dark
The team, now split, with Brody, Kai, and Elias heading towards the target coordinates, and Aris and Sarah remaining behind to delve deeper into the mysteries unearthed. The recon team moved cautiously, the dense forest around the target coordinates a stark contrast to the sterile environment of the abandoned facility.
Meanwhile, back at their makeshift base, Aris and Sarah worked tirelessly. “Dulce,” Aris muttered, scrolling through the search results. “A hotbed of conspiracy theories. An alleged underground base, alien experiments… it’s a rabbit hole.”
Sarah, focused on Roswell, added, “And Roswell… the infamous incident. Officially, it was a crashed Project Mogul balloon, a top-secret program to detect Soviet nuclear tests.” She paused, a thoughtful expression on her face. “But the timing… Project Mogul was active in 1947. What if the ‘Subject T’ files coincide with that? Could there be a connection?”
Aris nodded slowly. “It’s possible. And Project Chimera… the files mentioned it. It sounds like a project involving genetic manipulation, potentially integrating alien DNA.”
As the recon team moved deeper into the woods, they found an old, overgrown access road, barely visible beneath the foliage. “This could lead us somewhere,” Brody said, his voice low. Kai, using their enhanced senses, pointed towards a faint energy signature in the distance. “Something’s ahead. Faint, but… familiar.”
Elias, his senses heightened by his own unique biology, felt a resonance with the energy. “It’s like… an echo. Like my own energy, but… distorted.”
Meanwhile, Aris and Sarah had managed to find some old, classified documents online, referencing both Project Chimera and Project Mogul. One document mentioned a joint operation, a collaboration between the two projects in the late 1940s, with a focus on “integrating recovered extraterrestrial materials for… enhanced human capabilities.”
The document was heavily redacted, but one phrase stood out: “Subject T… successful integration… energy manipulation… potential weaponization.”
Back in the woods, the recon team reached a clearing. In the center stood an old, dilapidated military installation, half-swallowed by the forest. The air crackled with the same energy Kai and Elias had sensed.
“This is it,” Brody said, his hand on his sidearm. “Let’s proceed with caution.”
Inside the installation, they found evidence of old experiments: strange machinery, containment cells, and faded symbols that seemed both alien and human. In one of the cells, they found a figure huddled in the corner. Weak, but alive.
It was another individual with energy manipulation abilities. A survivor of Project Chimera.
