Chapter 14: Whispers on a Crimson Wind

Light years away, in the binary star system of Xylos, the ovoid vessel pierced the crimson-tinged atmosphere of the third planet. The landing sequence was rough, the energy conduits still cycling down from the unexpected surge required for the rapid transit.

Within the dimly lit control chamber, the crystalline entity known as Kryll pulsed with a faint satisfaction. The energy harvest from the verdant, water-rich planet had been… sufficient. Not optimal, but enough to sustain the burgeoning growth in the primary incubation chambers.

The primitive life forms had reacted with predictable alarm, their crude energy signatures flickering with fear. One, however, had been… different. A resonance, a faint echo of a perceptual capacity Kryll had encountered eons ago. Intriguing. Perhaps a more thorough analysis of that world would be warranted in the future.

For now, the priority was the continuation of the cycle. The propagation of the Kryll. And this new world, bathed in the light of its twin suns, offered the resources required for the next stage of their evolution. The whispers on the crimson wind carried the silent promise of growth, of expansion, of the inexorable march of the Kryll across the cosmos.
